How to Fix COVID’s Reading Loss at Home

We create fluent readers, critical thinkers, and confident communicators who achieve success in school, career, and life.
COVID Academic Recovery Program Available
Ivy Reads helps 3rd-grade through 12th-grade students become fluent readers, critical thinkers, and confident communicators by mastering the three cornerstones of language arts success: vocabulary, grammar, and reading comprehension.
The first step in our process is to assess our students; this allows us to see what skills they have and, more importantly, how they approach difficult problems. From there, we develop a specific plan for individual students, benchmarking every three months.
Our goal is to ask and be asked the questions that will excite and challenge our students. Additionally, the ability to seek answers to meaningful questions will expand students’ critical thinking skills and propel them to future success.
Language arts concepts progressively grow in complexity. To ensure students grow with the changing difficulty, we constantly review and adapt skills to maintain mastery.

The owner, Denise is absolutely brilliant and knows how to help children succeed in all aspects of Language Arts. When it comes to reading, critical thinking, comprehending and getting ideas onto paper she knows what works. I highly recommend.
I wanted to share what an amazing experience we had with Ivy Reads. I learned about it some time ago. Our schedule was rather full so I could not make it work. Then Covid… I picked fall virtual academy with Wake county as I wasn’t sure what to expect with school starting in September. I knew early on I wanted to supplement them with math and reading. We go to Mathnasium already and have an amazing experience. They are truly awesome at mathnasium and have provided more than I could hope in helping advance math skills. I wanted something for EL as well. I remembered Ivy Reads. I worked with the owner and we were able to put together a private track out camp for my kids and their best friends who we have “Podded up” with over the summer. We were safe in a super small group with great cleaning/hygiene protocols. They are super serious about it so we felt safe. I was a little worried they would boycott a learning camp over their track out. It was an amazing experience. Jeff made the camp so much fun. They loved it and they learned. My kids are not big readers even though I push. They came home wanting to read. What I really liked was the way they broke things down and continued to build on them. It was logical and I appreciated that having a science background. They work on sentence structure and the different types of nouns and verbs so you can build good strong sentences. I am so thrilled so we want to continue. We thought we may only do these private track out camps but we are going to do something weekly so we can keep up the momentum. Again thank you Ivy Reads. What a difference and I really appreciate you working with in these challenging times.
We are huge Ivy Reads fans! Our two kids (middle school and high school age) LOVE everyone who works at Ivy Reads. The staff goes out of their way to build relationships with students and families. The small groups allow kids to get the individualized help they need – whether they are above grade level and need some extra challenges or are struggling. We were Ivy Reads fans before COVID-19 and now are even bigger fans. They dealt with the transition to online learning like no other organization or school we are a part of. They quickly adapted to a successful virtual learning platform and communication was excellent throughout the entire experience. We cannot provide any higher recommendation!
